The Main Plot

AS Level Media Studies Final Project

December 15th, 2025, Post 1

The Story, roughly:

 With rising tensions throughout not only our nation, but throughout the whole world, 

authoritarianism is considered the biggest threat to everyone. My idea for this project will play into this fear. However, that would be boring to just have the same old 'evil government' plot. What about a story in which an evil government has tricked everyone into loving their dastardly deeds. This will be the main premise of my story. It can be considered a dark comedy and satire.

   

     (This image represents the juxtaposition between the love of the government and the actions of the government itself – the citizens' willful ignorance. Barbed wire – the oppression – and the sunset – the peoples' belief of their oppression. 

The opening scene will be that of a common dinner conversation between a family.

Layered under their conversation will be a 'news channel,' which is more akin to a propaganda channel. Despite them being two separate entities – the family and the government – they will both be repeating the same talking points. This scene will develop just how far gone this nation's denizens are in its government's propaganda. This idea will be prevalent in other scenes included in the opening two minutes. The name of the 'film' will be 'They Love Us.' This title will be briefly said by both the family and the channel before cutting to the title card. Further inspirations and ideas will be discussed in great detail in later blog posts.
