'Nineteen Eighty-Four' and its inspiration on my project:

In 'Nineteen Eighty-Four,' the story is set in a totalitarian state called Oceania. One special characteristic of this state is its mental control over its citizens. Oftentimes, totalitarian nations gain and keep control through the fear of their denizens. In Oceania, the control of the Party is so immense that their citizens' thoughts are subservient to the state. For example, Newspeak - the official language  of Oceania - is so limited in its vocabulary that it completely irradicates any chance of dissent, so as not even a single though dismissive of the Party is able to be though of. Similar aspects are also a large part of the Party's control. These aspects would be heavily prevalent throughout my project. The idea that a government is able to not only silence, but destroy any chance of dissent, is one of the major topics that will be covered.

(This is an image of the supposed 'world map' of where 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' takes place. Due to the distrustful nature of Oceania's statements, the nations in the map, such as Eastasia, may in fact not exist, but rather be made up in other to strengthen patriotism and nationalism.)

'Brave New World' and its inspiration on my project:

'Brave New World' takes place in the year 2540, in which ones development, nature, and intelligence are predetermined from ones forced class. The classes, from highest to lowest in intelligence, are: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon. Epsilons are specifically bred to be of low intelligence but useful to the world government in providing menial labour and tasks. The majority of the populous is kept docile through many means of 'peace-keeping,' such as the drug Soma, which gives the user immense happiness. These aspects, such as the idea of docility of citizens, and predetermined caste systems, will be extremely important in the development of my project.
